Sign Up for a Free Expert ConsultationRegulated by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) under AHPRA. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is responsible for registering nurses to practice legally in Australia. International nurses must apply to AHPRA and submit their education details, identity documents, English language test results, and professional experience. AHPRA assesses whether the nurse meets Australian nursing standards. Some nurses may be required to complete an outcome-based assessment or bridging program. Once approved, the nurse is granted registration and can work as a nurse in Australia.
Registration standards also include professional conduct, CPD (continuing professional development), and compliance with NMBA codes of ethics. If qualifications don’t fully match, AHPRA may require bridging programs or supervised practice.
