ANMAC Skills Assessment

Your gateway to skilled migration as a nurse or midwife in Australia. The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is responsible for assessing the qualifications of internationally qualified nurses for migration purposes. Nurses must submit their education, registration, work experience, and English language test results for assessment. ANMAC checks whether the nurse’s qualifications meet Australian standards. A positive skills assessment from ANMAC is required for nurse migration visas. This assessment supports the nurse’s application for skilled migration to Australia.

About ANMAC

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is the government-approved body responsible for evaluating the qualifications and professional background of nurses, midwives, and healthcare professionals applying for skilled migration. Its outcomes are used by the Department of Home Affairs to assess visa eligibility.

Who Needs It?
  • Internationally qualified nurses and midwives.
  • Registered nurses/midwives in Australia or New Zealand.
  • Healthcare workers with direct patient care roles.
What ANMAC Does Not Do

ANMAC only conducts skill assessments. It does not handle registrations (NMBA does), provide jobs, offer visa advice, recommend agents, or run training programs. Registration with NMBA is a separate requirement.

Assessment Criteria
  • Identity verification.
  • Review of education and training.
  • Work experience evaluation.
  • Registration and certification checks.
  • English test results (Full Skills Assessment).
If You Don’t Qualify

If criteria aren’t met, applicants will be marked as unsuitable for migration. ANMAC will specify the unmet requirements, but cannot provide further advice. Appeals may be made via the Skilled Migration Services Appeals Policy.
